Two separate road accidents in South Goa on Sunday claimed one life and left two others injured, including a scooter rider who is in critical condition.

In the first incident, a high-speed collision involving a Mahindra Thar, a Hyundai Creta and a Jupiter scooter occurred near Blueberry at Verna. According to preliminary information, the Thar allegedly went out of control, crossed the road divider and crashed into the oncoming scooter before colliding with the Hyundai Creta. The scooter rider sustained critical injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment. Police have begun an investigation into the circumstances that led to the crash.

In the second accident, one person was killed and another injured after a car travelling from Margao towards Karwar veered off the road and plunged into a marshy field near Char Rasta in Canacona.

Initial investigations indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the carriageway and crash into the marshland. One of the occupants became trapped inside the damaged car and died before rescuers could extricate him. The second occupant sustained injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
