Porvorim Police have arrested four persons in connection with a violent assault that allegedly took place near the Socorro Panchayat garden on June 18.
According to police, the case was registered following a complaint filed by 24-year-old Ankush Sharma, a resident of Socorro. The complainant alleged that the accused, acting with common intention, assaulted his friend Anand Patil (37), a resident of Socorro, with fists and kicks, causing injuries to his face, head and other parts of the body.
Police said the main accused, identified as Sourabh Narulkar of Socorro, along with three others, allegedly attacked Patil due to previous enmity between the victim and Narulkar. The complainant further alleged that the accused also threatened him with dire consequences.
During the investigation, police identified the three other accused as Pranav Borkar (28) of Kirwada, Chimbel, Arjun Paryekar (18) of Kirwada, Chimbel, and Anish Borcar (21) of Marutiwada, Chimbel.
All four accused were traced and arrested on June 21. Police stated that the arrests were carried out after following all Supreme Court guidelines. The accused are presently lodged in the police lock-up.
A case has been registered under Sections 352, 351(3), 109(1) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Pratik Tulaskar of Porvorim Police Station.
