In a case registered in February this year by the Panaji police for allegedly supplying suspected counterfeit anti-snake venom vials worth nearly ₹5 lakh to the Goa Directorate of Health Services, the North Goa Sessions Court has granted anticipatory bail to the accused couple, Ritu Upendra Singh and Upendra Kumar Singh.

M/s Aarav Pharma—a proprietorship firm owned by Ritu Upendra Singh and managed by Upendra Kumar Singh—is accused of supplying 1,082 vials of anti-snake venom with labels and packaging that infringe the copyrights of other companies, for commercial gain and in violation of a non-negotiable condition of the tender.

While granting conditional anticipatory bail to both accused, the court observed that their arrest would severely prejudice their long-standing business goodwill and that custodial interrogation was unnecessary because all transactional documentation had already been provided to the investigating officer.
