Residents of Karapur have filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) before the Bombay High Court at Goa, alleging that a compound wall constructed by the House of Abhinandan Lodha is illegal and has blocked traditional public pathways as well as access routes to private properties.
According to the petitioners, the construction of the compound wall has obstructed long-used pathways, causing hardship to local residents and restricting access to their properties. They alleged that despite repeatedly bringing the matter to the attention of the authorities, no action was taken, forcing them to seek legal intervention.
The High Court is scheduled to begin hearing the PIL on July 1, 2026. Residents said they will decide their future course of action based on the outcome of the court proceedings.
"We repeatedly raised the issue with the concerned authorities, but no one paid heed to our grievances. Left with no alternative, we had to approach the High Court," members of the protest group said.
