In an effort to resolve the ongoing internal rift within the Indian National Congress in Goa, K. C. Venugopal held one-on-one discussions with senior party leaders.
The high-level meeting was aimed at addressing differences within the Goa unit and restoring unity ahead of crucial political battles in the state. However, reactions from leaders after the discussions indicated that the internal tensions may still be far from resolved.
Following the meeting, Amit Patkar made a pointed statement, saying the Congress party does not belong to Girish Chodankar alone, but also to the party’s three MLAs, MP, and grassroots workers.
His remarks have fueled speculation over continued factionalism within the state Congress, despite the central leadership’s intervention.
Responding to the controversy, Venugopal defended Girish Chodankar, stating that the party high command is fully aware of his loyalty and commitment to the Congress.
Meanwhile, GPCC President Girish Chodankar sought to downplay the differences, insisting that all party leaders remain united and committed to strengthening the organisation.
