When asked about the new political outfit, the Chief Minister interrupted the question and responded, "What is my connection? Have you gone mad?", without allowing the journalist to complete the query.
The question came in the backdrop of allegations made earlier by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar, who claimed that the BJP had earmarked ₹100 crore to facilitate the formation of a new political party in Salcete with the objective of dividing opposition votes.
Soon after Chodankar's statement, a political outfit named the Goa Congress Party announced its presencein Salcete, triggering speculation over its formation and political objectives. The BJP is yet to officially respond to the Congress' allegation that it is backing the newly floated party to split opposition votes ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
