The NAKSHA pilot project in Goa aims to modernize urban land records using advanced drone and geospatial technologies. Under this Central Government initiative, the Directorate of Settlement and Land Records will begin formal land inquiry proceedings on July 6 in Panaji city, various villages in Tiswadi, and the municipal areas of Margao and Cuncolim. According to the department's January 1, 2026 notification, ground verification is already complete. This upcoming phase involves a detailed scrutiny of land records, verification of ownership rights, and updating necessary database entries.

To facilitate this, the department requests all landowners and stakeholders to attend the scheduled verification sessions at their respective local offices. It is essential to bring all original property ownership documents. If there is an ongoing appeal, legal challenge, or civil lawsuit regarding any piece of land, the department notes that further action will strictly follow the final orders of the court or competent authority. Ultimately, this initiative is crucial for making urban land records more accurate, transparent, and up-to-date, so all residents in these areas are urged to cooperate and complete their verification on time.

The official verification schedule is split by region. For the Panaji Municipality area and Tiswadi Taluka villages, verification runs from July 6 to July 27, 2026, at the Inspector of Survey and Land Records, City Survey Office in Panaji. Meanwhile, for both the Margao and Cuncolim Municipal areas, the process takes place from July 16 to August 14, 2026, at the Inspector of Survey and Land Records, City Survey Office in Fatorda.
